Terms of use

Sudo Learn is licensed to an institution — typically a single department — for a fixed term with an end date, agreed in writing before the term starts. The license covers the students, professors and department heads of that institution. It is not transferable to another institution, and it does not extend to a company or to individuals outside it.

When the term ends, access ends. Signing in after that returns an error rather than an empty dashboard, so nobody is left guessing. Pilot terms are stated when the pilot is agreed and carry no cost or obligation to renew.

There is no public sign-up. We create the institution and invite its department head. The department head invites professors and students; a professor can invite a student straight into one of their own courses. Every account is tied to the email address the invitation was sent to.

Accounts belong to one person. Sharing a login, or signing in as someone else, defeats the whole point of a record of how an individual works, and is grounds for us or the institution to deactivate the account. An account may also carry an access-until date set by the institution.

While using Sudo Learn, you agree not to:

• interfere with the telemetry the IDE records, or try to produce activity you did not actually do, whether by hand or by script;
• sign in as another person, share your credentials, or use an invitation intended for someone else;
• attempt to reach data belonging to students, courses or institutions you have not been given access to, including through the API;
• use the AI mentor to produce material that is unlawful, or that your institution's academic rules forbid;
• resell, sublicense or provide access to the platform to anyone outside the licensed institution, or use it to run a service for third parties;
• probe, load-test or reverse engineer the platform, other than security research reported to us first.

The mentor is built to answer a stuck student with a question or a hint rather than a finished solution. It can still be wrong. Code a student writes remains that student's work and that student's responsibility, including whether it is correct, safe to run, and permitted under their institution's rules on assistance.

Prompts and replies are part of the record, and are visible to the student, their professors and their department head.

The metrics and flags Sudo Learn produces are evidence about how work was done. They are not a verdict. A flag means a rule the professor set was crossed; whether that amounts to anything is for the professor and the institution to judge, using the underlying signals, which are always visible. Academic decisions are the institution's, not ours.

The record for an institution's students belongs to that institution. We process it to run the product and we can export it to them on request. We do not sell it, and we do not give it to employers or recruiters. Privacy is covered in full on the privacy page.

We aim to keep the service available during the licensed term and to warn institutions ahead of planned maintenance. Telemetry is queued locally in the IDE when the network is down and sent when it comes back, so a lab with bad connectivity does not lose a session. We do not promise an uninterrupted service, and we are not liable for indirect losses.

A department head can deactivate an account or set an access-until date at any time. We may suspend an account that is being used in breach of these terms, and will tell the institution why. Either side may decline to renew at the end of a term.

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will email the department head of each active institution before the change takes effect. Sudo Learn Technologies is based in Pune, India, and these terms are governed by Indian law.
